Mississippi 2020 Education for Developing Community Leadership Opening the Door to a Sustainable Future One Person at a Time The Urgent Need
For people to change this course, they must first become aware that all is not well. Then they must be introduced to concepts and models that are possible and desirable as alternatives to heal the Earth (or at least lessen our continual damage). And through the daily use of these alternatives, we can begin to secure a safe and sustainable future, not only for the children of the future, but also for the entire web of life. We have created the Education for Developing Community Leadership program for as a support system for this pioneering journey that involves thinking, feeling, exchanging ideas and acting totally differently from the manner to which we are accustomed. The program's focus will be to help individuals discover the deeper meanings of a balanced human-Earth relationship through the use of articles, workshops, discussion courses and audio-visuals. The courses will usually be held on weekday nights or Saturdays in churches, libraries or homes. Our hope is that as people incorporate the new views into their sense of reality and life patterns, they will come back for more and will recruit others. The courses will include the North West Earth Institute's Voluntary Simplicity, Exploring Deep Ecology, Choices For Sustainable Living, Globalization, and Healthy On-Hands, Healthy Planet. Most programs will run for 90 minutes, once a week for 7 weeks (study guide $15)
