Mississippi 2020 Network has developed a Clean, Green and Healthy School Manual. The design of the Manual is to help promote safe and healthy learning environments within our schools. The Manual will assist teachers with lesson plans that lead students through hands-on learning experiences which simultaneously help to identify potential health and safety concerns within school building. Team work and problem solving skills are developed as students are asked to understand the reason for the concern and to eventually propose solutions.

We believe children can play an important role in keeping the school's environment safe and healthy. The Clean, Green, and Healthy Schools Manual provides a structured, inquiry-based curriculum where students, along with educators, discover actions they can take to maintain a safe and healthy school environment. The Manual also provides helpful resources that the school can use to facilitate viable and sustainable changes.

The Manual is divided into three units: Environmental Health, Personal Health, and Personal Safety. Each unit addresses various health conditions related to the school campus and provides simple actions students and staff can take to reduce or eliminate potential health risks. Student activities are developed for upper elementary (fourth and fifth graders) - but can be adapted to other grade levels depending on level of detail provided.

Printed and bound copies of the 187 page manual are available for $20 (plus $2.50 for shipping), which includes continued support from our staff as your class progresses through the process. Please contact info@mississippi2020.org with any interest in the program.
